Mt Hutt is looking for great Methven people to host visitors at the mountain this coming season.
Mt Hutt's Ambassador Program is designed to make visitors to the ski area even more welcome by providing information and mountain tours delivered by knowledgeable Methven people and senior ski area staff.

NZSki Ltd general manager of sales and marketing David Ovendale said the objective of the program was to further integrate the Methven community into the mountain operations while delivering exceptional customer service via local personalities who did not actually work for the ski areas.

"This program is based on a similar highly successful initiative that operates in Aspen and other North American ski resorts," Mr Ovendale said.
"Ambassadors there are personable locals who know the ski areas and the local community really well and love to share that knowledge with visitors. We're looking for those people here."

Ambassadors will be strategically located throughout base areas and on trails on busy days and will be responsible for greeting visitors, offering directions and conducting mountain tours.

Ambassadors aren't officially paid but are rewarded with a free triple mountain season pass (nzskipass), free lunch when they're working, staff transport if required and an Ambassador jacket which is to be returned at the end of the season.

In its first year, the Ambassadors will work on special events and busy periods only. Ambassadors at Mt Hutt would be needed for eight days throughout the season.
Mr Ovendale said senior ski area staff from all departments would also contribute to the program.

"It gives all staff the opportunity to mix up their jobs a bit and spend quality time on the snow with our customers," Mr Ovendale said.

"It also gives us the chance to build strong relationships with members of our community and should be fun for everyone involved."
Mt Hutt is due to open for the season on June 14.
